President Tinubu not resting, committed to growth of Nigeria, says Aide, Khadijat Omotayo Kareem

The Personal Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Constituency Affairs, Khadijat Omotayo Kareem on Monday said the President is not resting in his commitment to see to the growth of Nigeria.

Khadijat said this at a Town Hall Meeting with “Critical Stakeholders” in Lagos State held at the premises of the Lagos State Television. She had held such meetings in many other constituencies spread over the country.

The meeting, according to her, was to provide room to deliberate on challenges facing constituencies across the country and report back to the President in order to find solutions to them.

Khadijat said the President understands the importance of building infrastructure in Lagos and other parts of the country as an important springboard for development in the country, particularly Lagos as the commercial centre of Nigeria while strongly expressing the Tinubu’s commitment to completing all ongoing federal projects in Lagos State.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to addressing challenges facing Nigeria and Lagos State in particular.

“He promised to support projects that will enhance the quality of Lagosians as well as meet the needs of our constituencies,” she said.

She added: “The President is not resting because he wants to bring renewed hope to Nigerians.”

Khadijat assured stakeholders that every constituent in the country will get what they deserve and that their complaints will be reported back to the President.

The Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Lagos Chapter, Funmi Sesi, said the stakeholders’ meeting was necessary in order to build a relationship between the government and the people.

On issues concerning Lagos and the South West, Sesi said Lagos State should be given special status by the Federal Government.

She noted that Lagos State is home to Nigerians from all parts of the country, which has caused financial strains on the state in providing public infrastructure.

She told the Personal Assistant to inform President Tinubu to embark on a massive housing scheme in the south west, build more specialized hospitals in Lagos, handover abandoned federal government property in the state to the state government, establish a food bank in Lagos, invest in agriculture in the South West as well improve transportation system in Lagos

The President, Trade Union Congress, TUC, Lagos chapter, Gbenga Ekundayo, drew the attention of the Presidential Aide to some government policies that need further fine-tuning.

He noted that some economic policies of the President have cut down the purchasing power of Nigerians and appealed to the President to ‘slow down’ on his policies.

“The President should expedite actions on the Renewed Hope Housing Scheme. He should try and win the youth to his side using sports. The President should also look into the lifestyle of political appointees, which is sending the wrong signal to Nigerians,” Ekundayo said.

On her part, the Iyaloja of Computer Village, Ikeja, Bisola Azeez, who represented the Iyaloja-General, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo lamented the lack of access to loans by traders.

“Our challenge as traders is having access to loans to augment our working capital. The real people that need the loan don’t have access to federal government loans because of too many requirements. The federal government should fashion out means traders can get loans

An activist and founder, Coalition of Oodua Self-Determination Group, Rasaq Olokooba said the President should take quick action on the formation of state police.

“Our farmers can no longer go to farm because our farms are no longer secured. The security of Yoruba land is germane. There should also be special status for Lagos State because Lagos has the highest number of residents,” he said.

Other contributors expressed worries over attitudes of political appointees who abandon their constituencies after getting into office and relocate to other areas.

They urged the president to compel politicians to live within their constituencies for the benefit of their people.

FRSC Partners with Edutainment First International to Drive Road Safety Awareness in Nigeria

In a country where road accidents claim thousands of lives each year—most of them young people—the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Edutainment First International have launched a bold new initiative to change the narrative. On Thursday, August 14, both organizations hosted the maiden Road Safety Youth Hangout at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja.

The event, held to mark United Nations International Youth Day 2025, brought together more than 300 participants, including members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), students, youth leaders, and community representatives. Unlike traditional road safety campaigns, the hangout was designed as an interactive forum blending education and entertainment, where young Nigerians could learn, innovate, and commit to safer road practices.

According to FRSC data, young people remain the most vulnerable demographic in road traffic crashes across Nigeria—an urgent concern this initiative aims to tackle. Through storytelling, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving, the Road Safety Youth Hangout sought to transform young Nigerians into advocates for safety within their communities.

“This is not just about rules and regulations,” said one of the organizers. “It’s about equipping young people with the tools and the voice to change Nigeria’s road culture.”

Aligned with the UN’s 2025 theme, “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” the program underscored the critical role of young Nigerians in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those connected to health, safety, and responsible citizenship.

By focusing on empowerment rather than enforcement, FRSC and Edutainment First International signaled a fresh approach to road safety: investing in the next generation as the real drivers of change. The belief is simple yet powerful—an informed and empowered youth population is key to reducing accidents and saving lives.

For many participants, the hangout was more than just an event; it was a wake-up call. With interactive sessions infused with music, drama, and dialogue, young Nigerians were challenged to reflect on their daily habits as road users and to embrace leadership as advocates for safer communities.

As one youth participant reflected:

“Road safety isn’t just the job of the FRSC. It’s our responsibility too—because we are the ones most at risk.”

The maiden edition of the Road Safety Youth Hangout may have ended, but the movement it launched has only just begun. Its message was unmistakable: Nigeria’s fight for safer roads must be youth-led, collaborative, and relentless.
