Police Rescue 207 Abducted Children Nationwide, Foil Multiple Bandit Attacks

The Nigeria Police Force dismantles child trafficking syndicate in Ondo, thwarts bandit attacks in Kogi and Katsina, making significant progress in national security

Femi Oyewale

Abuja, Nigeria – In a series of significant operations across Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully rescued 207 abducted children and disrupted multiple bandit attacks in a coordinated effort to enhance national security. These operations, carried out in Ondo, Kogi, and Katsina States, highlight the ongoing efforts of the police to tackle human trafficking and violent crime across the country.

Child Trafficking Syndicate Dismantled in Ondo

A major breakthrough in the fight against child trafficking occurred in Akure, Ondo State, where police operatives rescued 14 children and arrested three key members of a child abduction and trafficking syndicate. Acting on intelligence regarding a missing child, the police apprehended Abosede Olanipekun, Lukman Isiaka, and Sabira Izuorah, dismantling the criminal network responsible for the abduction of young children.

The rescued children, ranging in age from one week to seven years, were found in a distressing condition but are now being cared for by child welfare authorities. Police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed that the operation was part of an expanded initiative aimed at combating human trafficking and illegal “baby factories” across the country.

“The Nigeria Police Force has escalated its initiatives to combat human trafficking and the operation of illegal baby factories, successfully rescuing more than 207 abducted children from suspected traffickers nationwide,” Adejobi said in a statement.

Bandit Attacks Thwarted in Kogi and Katsina

In a separate operation on January 18, 2025, police operatives in Kogi State intercepted a group of armed bandits who were reportedly holding a strategic meeting in a forest in Budon. Upon arrival, the police were met with fierce gunfire, but the operatives overpowered the bandits, resulting in one bandit neutralized and four others arrested. Authorities recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 30 rounds of live ammunition, and two motorcycles during the operation.

On the same day, in Katsina State, police operatives, working in collaboration with other security agencies, successfully intercepted an armed bandit group en route to attack Ruwan Doruwa Village in Dutsinma Local Government Area. A fierce gun battle ensued, ultimately leading to the neutralization of seven bandits, while the remaining members of the gang fled, abandoning 109 livestock suspected to be stolen.

Police Continue Efforts to Combat Crime

These operations underscore the Nigeria Police Force’s continued dedication to safeguarding citizens from the growing threat of violent crime. The successful neutralization of bandits and dismantling of child trafficking rings is a testament to the coordinated efforts between various security agencies and the police.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens,” Adejobi stated. “We will continue to intensify efforts to root out criminal elements that threaten the peace and stability of our nation.”

The police are also urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance security across Nigeria.

What God Cannot Do Does Not Exist”: Wife of Suspended Priest Shares Testimony

By Femi Oyewale

Dallas, USA — Dora Chichah, wife of the suspended Catholic priest Reverend Father Daniel Okanatotor Oghenerukevwe from the Diocese of Warri, has shared a heartfelt testimony about her marriage during a live session at Pastor Jerry Eze’s Streams of Joy International Church in Dallas, USA.

Dora, a single mother of three, revealed how persistent prayers and faith led to what she described as her “miraculous marital settlement.” In a video reposted on Facebook by Nigerian priest Reverend Father Kelvin Ugwu, Dora expressed gratitude to God for answering her prayers after nine years of waiting for a life partner.

“What God cannot do does not exist. We dey pray, e dey show. My name is Dora, and I’m giving my testimony from Streams of Joy, Dallas,” she began. “Indeed, the Lord has shown me mercy. Since 2020, I have been on this altar, believing God for a life partner. I’m a single mother of three, and I have been believing God for over nine years for a divine settlement. I kept on praying, I said, ‘God, settle me,’” she said.

Dora recounted how, in 2024, Pastor Jerry Eze led prayers for women in their 30s and 40s seeking marital breakthroughs. She shared how she felt divinely instructed to relocate, which led to her reconnection with Daniel, a childhood acquaintance.

“We exchanged contacts, and things progressed quickly,” Dora stated. Their relationship culminated in a wedding on July 29, 2024, in the United States.

Notably, Dora refrained from mentioning during her testimony that her husband was a Catholic priest. However, photos of the wedding have since gone viral, revealing the union that resulted in Father Daniel’s suspension for breaching Catholic priestly vows.

Online Debate Over Faith and Celibacy

The story of their marriage has sparked widespread online discussions about the balance between personal decisions, priestly celibacy, and faith. While Dora’s testimony emphasized the power of prayer and divine intervention, the Catholic Diocese of Warri remains firm in its suspension of Father Daniel, citing canonical laws against clerical marriage.

The Diocese has yet to issue further statements on the matter, but the viral nature of the story continues to stir debate among Catholics and the broader community. Dora’s testimony, coupled with the controversy surrounding her husband’s priestly status, has shone a spotlight on the challenges and complexities of balancing spiritual commitments with personal life.

As Dora concluded her testimony, she said, “May God continue to show us mercy and guide us on His path.”
