VICTORY SPEECH BY PRINCE ADEDAPO ABIODUN OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) ON HIS ANNOUNCEMENT AS WINNER OF THE OGUN GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION BY THE INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (INEC) ON SUNDAY, MARCH 11th, 2019.

It is with immense gratitude to the Almighty God that I accept the task that has just been bestowed on me by the good people of Ogun State.

Though the race was tough, the challenge tasking, the odds enormous and the obstacles were many, but to God be all the glory for this divine victory which is for all the good people of Ogun.

Campaigns and elections are now over and it is time to start harnessing the huge God-given human and natural resources of our State, for rapid development for the overall interest and benefits of our people.

To my fellow contestants, we have all participated to the best of our abilities in vying for the exalted office, which can only be occupied by one person at a time.

I therefore, most humbly, and unconditionally, extend my hand of fellowship to my compatriots from other parties, and indeed, all those who contested with me at the APC primaries for the party ticket, which I won. Like our slogan during the campaign, “Igbega Ipinle Ogun, ajose gbogbo wa ni”. The development of Ogun State is the collective duty of all. With the love of Ogun in our hearts, we all have something to offer and our government will be more than willing to take the benefits of shared knowledge and experience.

Our government, your government, shall give Ogun State a focused and qualitative governance that is responsive, open and accountable to the people.

For rapid industrialization and infrastructural development, we will proactively create and promote the enabling environment for a public private sector partnership, which is fundamental to the creation of an enduring economic development and the individual prosperity of Ogun people.

We shall also focus on development of agriculture and rural roads in order to increase the output of food and cash crops, create wealth for real farmers and ease the movement of farm produce to the markets within and outside the state while generating revenue.

The local government administration is the closest to the people and we will return relevance to this third tier of government in Ogun State and create a beneficial synergy that will quicken the pace of development in our local government areas.

Ogun State is well blessed with resources heavily deposited across the state. We shall explore these resource in the overall interest of our people. We will run a government of all and for all. A government that will fair and equitable in the spread of infrastructural development goal across the state. We shall place a premium on human capital development of the generality of our people, including workers and civil servants. For us, our people shall be first in governance.

Finally, I must not fail to put on record, my heart-felt appreciation for the support I received from the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, the Chairman of our great party, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), our National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our Baba and one of the foremost progressives in Nigeria, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, and all our party members in Ogun State, friends, associates, members of the Dapo Abiodun Campaign Organization (DACO), volunteers, media men and women, security agencies and all those who made this collective victory possible.

To my dad and mum, dear wife and wonderful children and my siblings, your support and sacrifices served as the backbone that kept me going.

I assure all and sundry that I not only appreciate your invaluable support, I am also assuring you that I will not take your support for granted.

Thank you and God bless our dear Ogun State.

Mustapha Ololade Sholagbade, born on January 1, 1989, in Ebute Metta, Lagos, is an accomplished Nigerian actor, producer, and filmmaker with a deep passion for Yoruba cinema. Originally from Abeokuta, Ogun State, he is the first child in his family. Sholagbade began his education at Kadara Primary School and continued at Sojomen Talabi High School, Akute, and Nawairudeen Secondary School, Ebute Metta. He later earned an Ordinary Narional Diploma in Business Administration from the Lagos State Polytechnic. Pursuing his passion for acting, he trained at Odunfa Caucus, where he graduated in 2010.

Sholagbade launched his acting career in 2005, making a name for himself in Yoruba-language films. His portfolio includes roles in popular films like Olowo Ghetto, Alaimo, Ebun Mi, Esi, Gold and Treasure, Liam, Emilomo Babaolowo, Oko Aunty Mi, Broken Bond (Tude), and Last Born. In addition to acting, he has also produced several films, further cementing his influence in the industry.

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups against Terrorism in Nigeria has congratulated Major-General Olufemi Oluyede on his appointment as the acting Chief of Army Staff, (Ag COAS, Nigerian Army).

Coalition Congratulates Oluyede on Appointment as Acting COAS

The Convener of the Coalition, Comrade Oladimeji Odeyemi, in a statement, said General Oluyede has the responsibility to consolidate the success achieved by the Nigerian Army under General Taoreed Lagbaja.

President Bola Tinubu had on Wednesday, October 30, appointed Oluyede as acting COAS pending the return of the indisposed substantive Chief of Army Staff, General Taoreed Lagbaja.

The Coalition said his appointment is a welcome development. It said: “Major-General Olufemi Oluyede is well qualified for the position. He was a member of the 39th regular course and commissioned as an officer in 1987. Aged 56, he was promoted to the rank of Major-General in September 2020. A professional and top-notch security expert, he brings a lot of hope and inspiration to younger officers as acting chief of Army Staff.

“His appointment is the way to go. As the acting Chief of Army Staff, Oluyede has the responsibility to lead an army that will administratively manage the institution, consolidate on the success achieved by General Lagbaja and his team to mop up remnants of insurgents, bandits and the ragtag criminal elements in the North, and dismantle the ethnic militias in the Southeast to bring peace in the country.

“The 56-year-old Oluyede shares a long history with General Lagbaja, with a track record and excellent service to the nation. Both are members of the 39th Regular Course and were commissioned as officers in 1987.

“Oluyede’s meritorious career began as a Platoon commander and adjutant at 65 Battalion, advancing to Company commander at 177 Guards Battalion and later Staff Officer at the Guards Brigade and commandant of Amphibious Training School.

“Oluyede has been part of many notable operations, including the ECOMOG Mission in Liberia, Operation HARMONY IV in Bakassi, and Operation HADIN KAI in the Northeast, where he commanded the 27 Task Force Brigade.

“He has received honours, including the Corps Medal of Honour, and Grand Service Star, all recognition for passing the Staff Course and membership in the National Institute, and his dedication and achievements in service.”
