We need investors, modern market – Oke-Eletu community

High chief Adeniyi Ajayi says the people of the Oke-Eletu community, Ijede Local Government Council Development Area, Lagos State need investors that will partner with the people for community development.

He called on both local and international investors to come into the community and set up businesses that would boost the economy of the area and reduce youth unrest.

 

 

 

 

He noted that establishing corporate organizations in the area like IHS Telecommunications and many others would create job opportunities for the youths, thereby making the environment conducive.

 

 

 

 

 

“It will minimize the crime rate, illicit drug abuse, and other social vices.

“I will provide an enabling environment, good security for interested investors,” he said.

The monarch said that there were investment opportunities in the areas of tourism, agriculture, health care, entertainment, and commerce in the community.

 

 

 

Presently I’m working towards how the abattoir will come to the community because it will boast the internal revenue of Ijede LCDA is among what Oke-Eletu in council is planning to do,I want sons and daughters residing outside the community to come and join hands so we can achieve this and also I’m having some challenges I need sponsors to assist us to make the community feel the impact of democracy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

“I am appealing to Senator Abiru and Honourable Babatunde Jimi Benson to come to our aid, we need modern markets, and parks in the community, we have over 36 CDAs in the community, and we need streets if you visit the Ikorodu area everywhere light even if is at night you would know, we are lagging behind”, he said.

 

Ajayi, one of the actors in Nigeria’s political firmament turned Royal father said that God’s grace and faithfulness made it possible for him to become the head of Eletu of the Oke-Eletu community.

 

 

 

 

“Destiny has an uncanny hand in the conduct and affairs of men. It foretells the human essence and consciousness or whatever one becomes or whatever happens in one’s life.

 

 

 

 

“As destiny will have his way, though I’m from Ayanolu descendants in Oke-Eletu both my forefathers are from royal families of Rademo descendants which are Ayanolu and Shogba families so its the will of God.

 

 

 

“Ayanolu and Shogba family rotate the kingship after the demise of any head, now it is the turn of Ayanolu,” he added

 

 

 

 

He said he was pursuing his political career believing that one day he will be the state governor or house of Representatives member of the state.

“I feel great being in this position, this is a higher post as supreme head among other communities in Lagos state.

 

 

 

“For the eight months now that I came on the throne, I have addressed some issues concerning the administration of the community which was very tasking.

 

 

 

 

“Everything is taking shape, for example, the two family descendants are having meetings to know how to manage the affairs of the community which was not in existence previously.

 

 

 

 

“Presently, we have created an avenue comprising the two ruling families where we meet every Friday to discuss and make decisions without biased or sentiments and this has led to the development, progress, and well-being of the community.

NAWOJ: SEKINAT, CHARITY GETS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE 

 

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists,(NAWOJ), Ogun State Chapter Executives has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Chairman NAWOJ SEKINAT Salam and the Financial Secretary, Charity James, saying that, their leadership reflect the ideal and objectives of NAWOJ.

 

This was revealed in a communique issued at an Emergency meeting of the Executive held at the NUJ State Council, Iwe-Iroyin in Abeokuta.

 

The vote of confidence on the Leadership of NAWOJ was unanimously signed by all the five executive members that attended the meeting with the vice chairperson taking apology for official engagement outside the state capital.

 

According to the communique ” Consequently, NAWOJ Ogun State Chapter, reaffirms it’s unwavering support and confidence in the Chairperson and the Financial Secretary, Sekinat Salam and Charity James respectively, Urge them to continue in their commitment to purposeful leadership in the best interest of the association and the society at large”.

 

Speaking briefly with Journalists after the emergency Executive meeting, the Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Woman Journalists (NAWOJ), Com. Sekinat Salam, said the meeting was necessary as the news of her suspension was laughable and insulting because it is like a pot calling a kettle black in this case, saying that the Leadership of the State Council, Com. Wale Olanrewaju has no local standing to suspend her or any executive member, even he cannot be a judge in his own case.

 

According to her” The Leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State led by Wale Olanrewaju has always been misusing power without recourse to the constitution of this noble Union, hence has no local standing to suspend me or any executive member “.

 

She said only the Central Working Committee (CWC) has the constitutional rights to sanction or suspend any members found wanting after due process has been followed.

 

While calling on members to stay calm, Com. Sekinat Salam assured members of positive representation of NAWOJ at both the State and National level, adding the success recorded under her administration cannot be overemphasized.

 

She therefore called on the National leadership of NUJ to critically look into the matter, either by setting up independent committee to investigate the issues and resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
