It was a great moment as promised for the fans of Idris Elba at the much talked about premiere of the Oscar buzzing “Beasts of no Nation” at the Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday, 12th of December, as the movie debuted in Nigerian Cinemas on Friday, 11th of December, 2015.
The premiere which held at Silverbird Cinemas, Victoria Island had Genevieve Nnaji, Dbanj, Okonjo Iweala, Uzodinma Iweala, Beverly Naya, Abraham Attah, Juliet Ibrahim, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Linda Ejiofor, Makida Moka, Emmanuel Ikubese, Ben Bruce among others in attendance. Idris Elba has been promoting the movie in other countries and the historical movement finally came to Nigeria.
In correction of the errors in previous releases, Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer in Netflix Inc.,the company that owns and markets ‘Beasts of no Nation’, described the movie as a disruptive success, as the movie has already been seen by three million viewers, not three hundred million viewers, as erroneously published previously.
‘Beasts of no Nation’ is based on the well acclaimed 2005 novel of the same title by the Nigerian-American author, Uzodinma Iweala who was also at the premiere, and was named by Oprah Winfrey, as one of her favourite books. Iweala also co-produced the movie.
‘Beasts of no Nation’, is a 2015 African war drama film written, shot, and directed by Cary Fukunaga about a young boy who survives as his country goes through a horrific war, It was shot in Ghana and co-stars Ama K., Abraham Attah, Opeyemi Fagbohungbe, amongst others.
The movie has been in Nigerian cinemas since Friday, 11th of December, 2015,and has been widely accepted by cinema lovers. This is a movie you want to see, it is an African experience you have not seen before and definitely would not want to miss.
