Beware of Kano State Government And Their Agents, Group Tells Appeal Court

The Kano Royal Elites (KRE) has urged the Appeal Court not to fall for the antics of the state government in the Kano Emirates case.

In a statement signed by its President, Alhaji Ibrahim Yahuza Idris, the group warned that the state government would go as low as intimidate judges to rule in their favour.

Idris also raised alarm about the government’s penchant for disobeying court orders as a clear indication of their disdain for the judiciary and their desire to perpetuate impunity.

The group, however, urged the Court of Appeal judges to be brave in the face of intimidation and blackmail.

“We are compelled to address the recent developments in the legal battle surrounding the Emir of Kano. The Federal High Court in Kano’s decision to nullify the reinstatement of Muhammad Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano is a victory for justice and the rule of law.

“The court’s ruling is a testament to the independence and integrity of the judiciary, and we commend the Honorable Justice for upholding the law despite intense pressure and intimidation from the Kano State government.

“Similarly, we applaud the court’s ruling in favour of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, ordering the Kano State Government to pay him N10 million in damages for fundamental human rights violations. However, we are alarmed by the Kano State government’s blatant disregard for the rule of law.

“Despite court judgments, the government has refused to obey the orders and has instead appealed to the Court of Appeal. This move is a clear attempt to blackmail the judiciary and undermine its authority. We warn the state government that their actions have consequences and will not go unchecked.

“The Kano State government’s actions are a clear indication of their disdain for the judiciary and their desire to perpetuate impunity. We urge the Court of Appeal judges to be brave in the face of intimidation and blackmail. The judiciary must not be swayed by the government’s actions, but rather remain steadfast in upholding justice and truth.

“We call on the people of Kano State and all Nigerians to stand with us in solidarity with the judiciary. We must not allow the Kano State government’s actions to go unchecked. We must defend the judiciary and ensure that justice is served.

“We urge the Appeal Court judges to be guided by the principles of justice and fairness in their deliberations. They must not allow themselves to be intimidated or blackmailed. They must uphold the law and ensure that justice is served.

“In conclusion, we reiterate our support for the judiciary and our commitment to defending the rule of law.”

Donald Trump literally MURDERED Joe Biden in their 90 minute encounter last night.

It was a horror show for the Dems and it ended in the total and complete massacare and annihilation of their feeble, ailing, mumbling, weak, disconnented, stuttering, verbally incomprehensible, mentally vacant and utterly lost presidential candidate.

Donald Trump literally MURDERED Joe Biden in their 90 minute encounter last night By FFK

I believe the greatest disservice that Bidens handlers did to him was to allow him to participate in that debate.

If I didn’t despise him as much as I do I would feel sorry for Joe and I assure you that he has NO chance of being re-elected as President in five months time.

He came across as a confused, bungling, fumbling idiot who had NO idea about what he was saying or doing.

He is not only a great danger to America but he is also a great danger to the world.

He did not need a debate last night and neither does he need to run for President: what he needs are prayers and a good doctor and what the Dems need is a new candidate to replace him.

I thank God for the timely, dramatic and remarkable return of Donald J. Trump to the world stage.

We missed him sorely and we need him now more than ever!

He WILL be elected as America’s next President and he may yet save the world from WW3.

Court Restrains Governor Aliyu From Sacking Sokoto Monarchs

As dethronement of traditional rulers continue to generate controversies in Sokoto, the state Higher Court sitting, on Wednesday, issued an order restraining Governor Ahmed Aliyu from sacking two out 15 traditional rulers already removed by the government.

The orders were sought separately by Alhaji Buhari Dahiru Tambuwal and Alhaji Abubakar Kassim, the District Heads of Tambuwal and Kebbe respectively.

They were among the 15 traditional rulers earlier removed by the Sokoto State government, on the allegation of insurbodination and aiding insecurity in the state.

The presiding judge, Justice Kabiru Ibrahim Ahmed, however ordered the Governor of Sokoto State, his Attorney General and the
Sokoto Sultanate Council to revert to status quo, pending the determination of the suite filed before him by the complainants, who were represented by Prof Ibrahim Abdullahi SAN.

Justice Ahmed through two orders directed the defendants, their agents servants, privies or assigns or any person acting on their behalves to “maintain status quo and stay all actions and further actions in connection with all matters dealing with and or appertaining to the removal and or dethronement of Districts Heads in Sokoto State”, particularly those of Kebbe and Tambuwal, pending the hearing and determination of the motion for interlocutory injunction duly filed by the two before the court.

The Governor’s Bill
This development is coming in the wake of bill presented to the state House of Assembly by the governor seeking for the amendment of the state Local Government Law, affecting the appointment and disposition of District and village heads and to confer on him exclusive powers to appoint and dethrone traditional rulers in the state.

The sacking of 15 district heads and the proposed bill sent to the state Assembly has generated swift reactions and heated debate across the state and the country, with recent warning to the state government by Vice President, Kashim Shettima while calling on the Sokoto State Government to regard the Sultanate as an institution that must be respected, preserved and protected.

Also, former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in his reaction, demanded that traditional institutions must be protected from the “excesses of state governors”.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) in two separate statements, warned Ahmed Aliyu to shelve the idea of removing the Sultan of Sokoto or whittling his powers and insisting that the Governor was targeting the monarch and planning to create a parallel Sultanate Council under the guise of the new law.

Sokoto State Legislature has last Wednesday, passed the bill to its second reading and refered the matter to a House Committee.

A public hearing on the controversial bill is scheduled for Tuesday next week.
