Presdent Buhari in his 2019 Easter message says
he rejoices with all Nigerians, especially the Christian brethren on the
glorious occasion of the celebration of Easter 2019.
He went on to say, ‘easter is the most important feast in
the Christian calendar and represents God’s redemptive mission over humanity,
the triumph of light over darkness, hope over despair and good over evil’.
The Christian festival commemorating the resurrection of
Jesus Christ is also a time to emulate the virtues of love, sacrifice,
forgiveness, humility, courage and endurance, which Christ embodied and
remarkably demonstrated during His earthly ministry.
Let us use this auspicious season to show love to our
neighbours, and cater to the needs of the less-privileged in our midst.
Our nation is currently gripped with gloom over unfortunate
killings, kidnappings and violence, as seen in the recent tragic incidents in
some states of the federation.
This should not be. We must reinforce the bond of
brotherhood and good neighbourliness that citizens of a cohesive country must
share. We must not allow the few bad elements in our communities to put asunder
our communal tendencies and chords of unity.
I know from my regular interactions with security chiefs,
state governors, victims and members of communities caught up in the
unfortunate cycle of violence, that Nigerians are united against the evil
minority.
This administration will do all it takes to adequately equip
and motivate our armed forces and other law enforcement agencies to enable them
successfully confront these security challenges. We will not allow merchants of
evil and death to overwhelm the nation. Under my watch, the nation will triumph
over them – terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and the like.
On this holy occasion, I enjoin all Nigerians to intensify
prayers for peace and security to return to all parts of the country. I also
urge you not to lose hope of a brighter and greater future for the country when
we do the right things in love. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes
in the morning.
I do not take the import of my re-election for granted,
especially the expectations of majority of Nigerians towards providing adequate
security, fixing the economy and fighting corruption.
The obligation of this administration as we prepare to take
governance to the Next Level, is to continue to provide dedicated and honest
leadership, where every citizen irrespective of religion or ethnic origin,
feels secure to live, invest and prosper; where public office holders are
accountable; and law breakers are brought to justice.
Once more, I wish all our Christian brothers and sisters in
Nigeria and around the world celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a
Happy Easter.
The leader of one of the foremost religious organisations in Nigeria, Bishop Chidi Anthony, president of Pentecostal Ministers Forum of Nigeria has outrightly condemned the killing of Fulani hunters in Uromi,Edo State and recapitulated that the killing hasn’t any religious undertone and has nothing to do with Christians in the country.
Reacting to a viral video where a Fulani man was seen threatening the entire Christians in the country and talking to the president of the country with so much impudence “what happened in Uromi is barbaric and shouldn’t be encouraged,if they had suspected that they were kidnappers, they shouldn’t have handed them over to the security operatives, not killing them instantly, such callous and act of dastardly such not be encouraged because we are one Nigeria ”
The PMF president was infuriated by the daring utterances of the Fulani guy on social media who threatened to kill and cause chaos in order to avenge the death of the Fulani hunters “I want to be very realistic,we shouldn’t encourage such threat that is capable of setting the nation on fire, why threaten to kill Christians, what happened in Uromi was not religious,I beckon on the security operatives to search and arrest him before he tears the nation apart”
Finally,he called on other religious leaders in the country to speak out at this point and defend the Christians in the country because they are not the ones that perpetuated the act “I want to implore the fathers of faith and other Christian bodies in the country to stand upright and defend the Christian faith because what happened in Uromi has absolutely nothing to do with the Christians ”

From Giant to Beggar: The Tragic Collapse of Nigeria Under APC Rule
By George Omagbemi Sylvester
Once hailed as the “Giant of Africa,” Nigeria now limps on broken legs — economically battered, politically rudderless, and morally bankrupt. It is no longer just the brain drain that should worry us; it is the soul drain. Nigerians — students, professionals, entire families — are fleeing not just to Europe or North America, but to Ghana, a nation we once dismissed as “small brother.” This is not just ironic. It is humiliating. And it is a direct consequence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) taking power in 2015.
The APC’s takeover, starting with President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, marked the beginning of a free-fall. What followed was a decade of despair, capped now by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu — another APC patriarch — who has inherited and worsened the crisis. The result? Every airport terminal has become a departure lounge for the talented, the young, and the fed up.
