Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar had said he would have sold 10% of the NNPC if he was elected the President of Nigeria when he ran.

Atiku made this remark on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 while urging Nigerians to give President Muhammadu Buhari a “pass mark’’ for his efforts in the first year of his administration.

He made the call in Abuja at the launch of a book titled “We Are All Biafrans’’ written by Chido Onumah.

According to Atiku, who was chairman at the occasion, of the five areas the Buhari administration pledged to face, he has accomplished two and should be encouraged.

“He promised to look into issues like power, insurgency, unemployment, corruption and diversification and if you are to take two out of five, you can give him a pass mark.

“He has dealt with corruption and with Boko Haram. For power, give him time,’’ he said.

Atiku said that power supply issue was complex, adding that unless the Niger Delta issue was resolved Nigeria may not get electricity soon.

“I think the Niger Delta should be handled with a stick and carrot approach. In 2007, before I ran for president, I met with various stakeholders on the Niger Delta issue and they came up with a policy.

“Part of the recommendations was that the ministry be moved to the Niger Delta and not Abuja. We have had administrations that did not do their homework on the Niger Delta.

“If I had won, I would have sold 10 per cent shares in the NNPC; that will give me 20 billion dollars which would build infrastructure for the Niger delta but we will always end up with accidental leadership.

“Bring peace and development to the Niger Delta then they will stop blowing up pipelines. Then, we will get gas and then power can be stable but until then, we will not get it.’’

Other recommendations he gave for a better Nigeria were “a smaller, leaner Federal Government with reduced responsibilities. This means devolution of powers and resources to states and local governments.

“State and local governments should control education, health, agriculture, roads and other infrastructure.

“A true federal system will allow the federating states to keep their resources while the Federal Government retains the power of taxation and regulatory authority over standards.

“The result will be a political and governmental system that empowers local authorities and gives them greater autonomy to address peculiar local issues, while enhancing accountability and contributing to the general good of the country.

“Such a robust federal system will reduce the tensions that are built into our current over-centralized system,’’ he said.

The former president also preached autonomy for states, a tax-centred revenue base, enhanced, diversified economic activities and productivity in order to enlarge their tax bases.

He also proposed an end to the indigene-settler dichotomy, the creation of a state police to complement the federal police and help in the fight against crime.

He called for a restructuring of the country, saying “Nigeria is not working as well as it should and part of the reason is the way we have structured our country and governance, especially since the late 1960s.

“The Federal Government is too big and too powerful relative to the federating states. That situation needs to change and calling for that change is patriotic.

“We must refrain from the habit of assuming that anyone calling for the restructuring of our federation is working for the break-up of the country.

“An excessively powerful centre does not equate with national unity. If anything, it has made our unity more fragile, our government more unstable and our country more unsafe.’’

He said that restructuring would promote healthy rivalries among the federating units and local authorities “thereby making us richer and stronger as a nation’’.

The author of the book said that he believed in true federalism and that the 214-page would sensitise the reader to note that most, if not all, of the problems of Nigeria were located in the way the country was structured.

A journalist, blogger and human rights activist, Onumah called for a look at the socio-political restructuring of Nigeria to ward off “a looming catastrophe that could endanger our collective well-being’’.

A Public Letter to the Honorable Oluwole Oke, Authored by Tiamiyu Olamide

Dear Honourable Oluwole Oke,

I have been closely observing your recent activities and comments on Facebook. It is apparent that you are feeling quite unsettled and frustrated by the backlash regarding your attempts to cross-carpet, which have not been well received by your constituents. It is essential to remind you that, as a member of the House of Representatives, you are expected to conduct yourself with honour and integrity.

I am puzzled by the narrative surrounding impeachment that you have chosen to discuss. I assure you that it has no relevance to the Osun State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun.

I urge you to exercise caution in your efforts to stir political tensions, as such actions may ultimately backfire.

The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, along with the other 24 distinguished members elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), remain fully committed to their responsibilities and to the governance of Osun State. These members were elected by the people, and their loyalty lies with their constituents, who expect them to prioritise their needs above political manoeuvres.

I am aware of your alleged offers to some members, promising them substantial sums to defect to the APC. However, the unity and dedication of the 25 PDP members in the Osun State House of Assembly stand firm. They are resolute in their support for His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, and the transformative policies his administration has put in place across various sectors.

I can confidently state that none of them will be swayed by your deceitful tactics. They are principled individuals who prioritise the development of Osun State over personal gain, holding no animosity towards anyone.

I advise you to redirect your energy towards the achievements you have made over your two decades of service in the House, as well as the progress our state has witnessed under the administration of Sen. Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.

The strength of the 8th Osun State House of Assembly lies in collaboration and a commitment to the welfare of the citizens. They will continue to work cohesively with all arms of government, demonstrating integrity and purpose in fulfilling their mandates.

Your primary duty should be to serve the people who elected you and to work towards a prosperous future for our state, rather than being driven by personal interests.

Thank you.

Signed:

Tiamiyu Olamide
Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, OSHA.

Even My Spiritual Father Abandoned Me’ — Pastor CC Israel Breaks Silence on Divorce, Abuse, and Redemption

By Femi Oyewale

“I died. But I’m alive again. My ministry died. But it’s alive again. Because God never left—even when everyone else did.”
These are the haunting yet healing words of Pastor CC Israel, founder of Inspiration Community Gospel Centre (ICGC) in Abuja, as he finally speaks out about the darkest chapter of his life—a marriage marred by violence, a ministry drowned in silence, and a pastor nearly buried by shame, suicide, and betrayal.
Even My Spiritual Father Abandoned Me’ — Pastor CC Israel Breaks Silence on Divorce, Abuse, and Redemption By Femi Oyewale
In an unfiltered, emotional, and brutally honest confession, Pastor Israel takes the mask off the pulpit to reveal the bleeding man behind the mic.
A Marriage That Shattered the Man
The year was 2017. On the outside, Pastor CC Israel was an emerging spiritual voice. But behind closed doors, he was dying silently.
From physical abuse—even before the wedding—to emotional and psychological torment, the marriage he once prayed for turned into a daily battlefield. “She slapped me just a week before our wedding,” he recalls. “I thought love would conquer it, but that was just the beginning of horror.”
Despite sacrificing everything—including selling his only car to fund 99% of the marital demands—he was constantly told he wasn’t “man enough.” Every morning, he woke up afraid—not of demons, but of domestic rage.
Silence, Shame, and Suicide
Bound by fear of religious backlash and societal mockery, Pastor Israel hid everything.
“How do you tell people your wife beats you? A pastor, no less?” So he endured it alone. Until he could no longer bear the weight.
Then came the night he drank alcohol for the first time in his life—a desperate escape from going home. That night, he blacked out in Onitsha and woke up in Aba, transported by intoxication and pain.
From there, suicide seemed like mercy. “I thought, if I died, everyone would be free.”
He tried to end it. Not once, not twice—but three times.
The CD That Saved His Life
On the third suicide attempt, ready to die, he decided to take one last walk through his house. That’s when he stumbled across a dusty CD of Bishop Noel Jones, a voice he hadn’t listened to in years.
He played it.
The first words were no coincidence—they were prophetic precision:
“There’s a man of God watching me from West Africa. You’re about to take your life because of your marriage. God says don’t die yet…”
The power came back suddenly—after weeks of darkness in the entire estate—just long enough for the message to play. Then it went off again.
He was knocked unconscious by a strange force and woke up hours later. The message could never be found again, not even on replay.
God had interrupted his funeral.
When the Church Closed Its Doors
With new courage, Pastor Israel ended the toxic marriage—but the cost was devastating.
When the news of his divorce broke, his world collapsed. “Doors I helped build were slammed in my face. The ministers I trained ignored me. Even my spiritual father—whom I defended at all costs—cut me off.”
He tried reaching him, calling, texting—silence.
“He blocked every channel of access. Even told his followers not to give me his number. That rejection almost killed me more than the abuse did.”
His reputation? Gone.
His ministry? Abandoned.
His friendships? Destroyed.
All for telling the truth… too late.
 From Ashes to Assignment

Years passed. Pain lingered. But mercy triumphed.
Today, Pastor CC Israel is slowly rebuilding—not with fame, but with grace. “I am no longer trying to impress anyone. I am just grateful to be alive.”
His ministry may have died—but like Lazarus, God called it back.
Now, he speaks for every man, every minister, every misjudged soul silently bleeding in the name of appearances and religion.
His Message to the Broken and Burdened
“There’s life after divorce. There’s ministry after failure.
There’s still a purpose after pain.
God’s plan for you is bigger than your failed marriage.”
To those contemplating suicide, to ministers hiding in shame, to leaders abandoned after one mistake—his life is now their letter of hope.
A Final Word to the Church
Pastor Israel’s story isn’t just personal—it’s prophetic.
It’s a call for the church to stop killing its wounded, to stop demanding perfection, and to create a safe place for struggles behind the collars.
“Let us not be quick to throw stones when one of us falls.
Let us not forget that even broken pastors are still God’s sons.
Pastor CC Israel Today
Serving as the lead pastor of Inspiration Community Gospel Centre (ICGC), Abuja, Pastor Israel now ministers with deeper compassion, reaching out to hurting men, broken ministers, and survivors of marital trauma.
He didn’t just survive for himself—he survived for you.
“Don’t end it. God is not finished with you.”
