OGUN GROUP CONGRATULATES ADEOSUN, TASKS AMOSUN ON NEW CABINET
A group in Ogun State, the Ogun Grassroots Development Awareness Forum, has described the immediate past Commissioner for Finance in Ogun state and one of the ministerial nominees waiting to be screened by the National Assembly, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, as an innovation-driven goal getter that Nigeria needs in her march to a new culture of governance that is based on integrity and performance.
In the same vein, the group has called on Governor Ibikunle Amosun to sustain the culture of prudence, innovation and accountability in the management of the state’s finance which was one of the hallmarks of his administration in his first term of office, if he hoped to remain eternally relevant in the history of the state.
In a media chat in Lagos, Chairman of the Forum, Adekunle Abegunde said Adeosun’s achievements stand tall as an important member of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s crack team of experts and technocrats whose invaluable contributions in the governor’s first term catapulted the state on the national development index.
He observed that the governor’s well documented towering achievements in his first term of four years in the area of infrastructural renewal, expansion and maintenance across the state owed primarily to the turnaround in the state’s internally generated revenue capability which the ex-Finance Commissioner supervised.
“All well meaning Ogun indigenes today praise governor Amosun for what he achieved in his first term, especially the accelerated renewal of social infrastructure in the state. Without a turnaround in the state’s IGR profile, that would not have been possible. So, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, as the Finance Commissioner then deserves commendation for working professionally, passionately and selflessly under the governor’s watch to establish prudence, accountability, innovation and right prioritizing as principles of financial management in the state. The state and its indigenes can never forget this achievement of hers”.
Abegunde noted further that the Ogun Home Owners Chatter was yet another innovative project of the Amosun government that Kemi Adeosun executed and supervised in a professional manner that indigenes would forever remain grateful for. According to him, the project has helped many property owners in the state to perfect their ownership documents with the government in a very affordable and stress-free manner.
While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for finding the former commissioner worthy of higher assignment at the national level, Abegunde enjoined Governor Amosun to throw up a few other unique talents in his new cabinet so that the state’s development journey under him could receive fresh impetus.
“Governor Amosun has shown himself to be a good manager who is adept at throwing up great talents. He did that in his first cabinet. He should do it again. Ogun has given to Nigeria a very bright, fresh and passionate individual which the governor threw up in his first term. As indigenes of the state, we are proud of Kemi Amosun going to work with President Buhari. It is up to Governor Amosun to ensure that Nigeria’s gain is not Ogun state’s loss”.
