Ohanaeze Warns IPOB

Lawyer Cries Out Over Fear Of Kanu Contacting Tuberculosis In Jail Prince Mandela Umegborogu, one of the lawyers of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has bitterly complained over the alleged relocation of a tuberculosis inmate near Kanu’s cell at the Abuja headquarters of the Department of State Services, DSS. Kanu’s lawyer who spoke with Vanguard after a routine visit to the IPOB Leader on Monday expressed deep worry over the grave health implications of having a tuberculosis patient in one’s environment. He said that Kanu was highly enraged about the sad development which he alleged could be a deliberate attempt to infest him with an infectious disease. ”I met with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu today (Monday) at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, and he was complaining to me that they brought somebody suffering from tuberculosis close to his cell block. ”The patient, Emeribe Uduma was arrested in Ohafia on September 15, 2022 , and handed over to the DSS which brought him to Abuja. “Onyendu (Kanu) complained to me that that boy was suffering from tuberculosis and that he was moved near his cell block so that he would infest him and others with tuberculosis. ”You know that tuberculosis is very infectious. Do they want to infest him so he will die in detention? ”Onyendu also told me that he ( Kanu) was yesterday ( Sunday) bleeding from his nose. He requires serious attention by his personal physician.” The lawyer further said that when DSS officials came to fetch Kanu after their meeting, he raised the same complaint before them but they denied having any tuberculosis inmates around the facility. ”When we finished discussing and some DSS personnel came to take him back to his cell he raised the matter before them. ”He told them that it is immoral and inhuman to do certain things even if it’s an order from above. He told them to have a sense of their own and refuse to obey instructions that are inhuman and illegal. ”I also confronted them and told them it was wrong to bring a tuberculosis patient close to people especially those in confinement where you don’t have ventilation. But they said they had tested everybody and nobody had tuberculosis but Onyendu told them it’s a lie”. Reacting to the development, Kanu’s family has called on the international community to prevail on the Nigeria Authorities not to allow Kanu to die in detention. The family which spoke through Prince Emmanuel Kanu expressed worry over the development and renewed the call for his release in compliance with various court orders. ” They should bear in mind that Kanu is an innocent man who has been set free by the Court. Any plan to bring him down through infectious disease should be dropped. The international community should prevail on Nigeria to ensure nothing happens to him”. Meanwhile, efforts to reach the DSS were unsuccessful as the secret police Spokesman could not be accessed as at the time of filing this report.

Ohanaeze Warns IPOB

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has cautioned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to be careful on how they go about creating enemies for Ndigbo and jeopardizing the Igbo relationships with their good neighbours.

Ohanaeze particularly flayed the unsavoury remarks IPOB made against the leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Chief Edwin Clark, and apologized to Chief Clark for IPOB’s youthful exuberance displayed against Clark.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo made it abundantly clear that the Igbo extol old age with courtesy and reverence, noting that old age is so treasured in Igbo land that the eldest man in a village or community, in most cases, enjoys community burial and funeral rites at death.

Governor Matawalle’s Defection To APC Confirms Primate Ayodele’s Prophecy

“The old are deemed to represent the Igbo ancestors here on earth and thus are often celebrated,” Ohanaeze said.

National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Alex Ogbonnia said that it is public knowledge that youths, all over the world, have some common characteristics which include impetuosity and exuberance.

The Apex Igbo body said that as much as the effervescence and exuberance of the youths are the essential hallmarks of a growing society, it is still the duty of the elders to moderate the excesses and idiosyncrasies of the youth.

It told the young Igbo that it was on record that Chief Edwin Clark is one of the few detribalized Nigerians with an unassailable love for the Igbos who have in more than several ways demonstrated an intense passion for the Igbo.

Ohanaeze recalled that ”It was Chief Clark who facilitated the renovation and equipment of the Queen’s School, Enugu with state of the art facilities shortly after the Nigerian civil war. Eminent Igbo women that passed through the school, such as Justice Rose Ukeje (rtd), Justice Victoria Nebo, Prof. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Prof. Ifeoma Enemuo, Prof. Ifeoma Egbuonu, Mrs. Justina Offia (SAN), Prof. Gloria Chukwukere, etc, are some of the testaments of Clark magnanimity.

“Since then Clark has remained one of the Patrons of the School to the present day. It was Clark, who has spoken vehemently against the Igbo marginalization and has propelled the concept of a president of Nigeria from the South East. It was Clark who had stated that the agitations by the Igbo are justified, among several others.

“It is important to urge our youths to refrain from remarks capable of putting the Igbo relationships with our highly valued neighbours in avoidable distress. The Igbo agitation, no doubt, is genuine but restraints, persuasions, and cordial inter-ethnic relations are required to sustain the supports of other ethnic groups in Nigeria,” Ohanaeze cautioned.

I Weep Because He left me, Late Pastor Dare Adeboye’s Wife Reveals

It reminded IPOB that the Leaders of the South East, South-South, South West, and Middle Belt converged and chose Chief Clark as the indefatigable leader of Southern Nigeria and Middle Belt Forum, SMBLF, because of his sterling qualities.

“I must also add that one of the most cherished of his enviable leadership qualities is the exceptional courage of his innermost convictions and the ability to speak truth to power.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide led by Ambassador Professor George Obiozor holds Chief E K Clark in very high esteem. Our profound admiration for him is beyond measures and will always condemn any form of attack on his person.

“We, therefore, hope that the unsavoury remarks by our youths will not weaken his passion and commitment for the Igbo.”

AMBO and the Osun Governorship Race: Assessing the Man, the Politics and the Vision

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, a public affairs commentator, Oluseyi Olonade, has described the emergence of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, as a significant development in the state’s political landscape.

In an article titled “Oyebamiji: The Man, The Politics and The Aspiration,” Olonade argued that the All Progressives Congress governorship hopeful possesses the character, experience and vision needed to reposition Osun State for sustainable growth.

According to the writer, Oyebamiji’s appeal stems from his extensive background in the banking sector, where he spent nearly three decades working with institutions including Wema Bank, Trans International Bank, Spring Bank and Enterprise Bank.

A native of Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area, Oyebamiji was described as a technocrat whose experience in corporate governance, finance and risk management has shaped his approach to public administration.

The article noted that his public service journey gained prominence in 2012 when he was appointed to oversee the then Osun State Investment Company Limited. Under his leadership, the organisation was reportedly restructured and transformed into Omoluabi Holdings Limited.

The writer further highlighted Oyebamiji’s tenure as Commissioner for Finance under successive APC administrations, where he was credited with managing the state’s finances during challenging economic periods.

Olonade also referenced Oyebamiji’s appointment as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, describing it as further evidence of his administrative and leadership capabilities.

The article contrasted Oyebamiji’s governance philosophy with that of the current administration in Osun State, arguing that the APC aspirant favours institutional reforms, economic diversification and fiscal discipline.

of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji,

According to the writer, Oyebamiji’s proposed agenda includes strengthening transparency in government spending, expanding internally generated revenue, attracting private-sector investments and promoting industrial and agricultural development.

The article also highlighted youth empowerment, entrepreneurship development and digital skills acquisition as key components of his vision for the state.

Olonade concluded that the forthcoming governorship election would present voters with a choice between different approaches to governance, expressing confidence that Oyebamiji’s experience and developmental agenda make him a strong contender in the race.

Atiku Set To Clinch ADC Presidential Ticket, Leads Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen In 34 States

Former Vice President of Nigeria and frontline presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, is projected to emerge winner of the party’s presidential primaries, according to impeccable sources in Abuja.

The primaries, conducted across over 8,000 wards in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, reportedly placed Atiku far ahead of his closest rivals — former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and former Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

Highly placed party insiders disclosed that Atiku is currently leading in 34 states, including the FCT, after securing dominance across the 19 Northern states, the five South-East states, and the six South-West states, while also maintaining a strong showing in at least three states in the South-South geopolitical zone.

The sources added that the outcome reflects what they described as “an overwhelming nationwide acceptance” of the former vice president within the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general election.

Meanwhile, the ADC leadership has invited members of the press to the official announcement of the final collated results scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in Abuja.

The declaration of results is expected to be broadcast live on ARISE Television and two other major television stations, while also being livestreamed on the party’s official social media platforms on X and Facebook.

Speaking ahead of the announcement, the founding National Chairman of the ADC, Chief Ralph Nwosu, said the decision to televise the exercise live was aimed at promoting transparency and democratic accountability.

“We want millions of Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to witness democracy in action,” Nwosu said.

He further revealed that the party leadership would encourage all three presidential aspirants to publicly embrace a peace accord and commit themselves to working together in unity for the party’s success.

According to him, the move is necessary to strengthen internal cohesion and position the ADC for victory in the presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Details later.
