Our Counsel, Olumide Akindiya expresses deeper meaning of his son’s name

Recently, our counsel, Olumide Akindiya who welcomed his first son with a poem, further expressed his joy on the naming ceremony day. The naming ceremony which was held in his residence on 14th of April, 2017 attracted families of both husband and wife; close associates, friends, church members and so on.

Our correspondence asked him, why naming his son, Prince Adewale, Joshua, Oluwajomiloju? The response of the father was very precise and each name has a deeper meaning – it seems they know the essence of naming a child. To him, Prince Adewale is bringing his son back to his root and identity as his ancestors are part of ruling class to the throne of Elekole of Ikole-Ekiti (Paramount Ruler of Egbe-Oba Kingdom). He further explained that owing to the demise of his grandfather on giving birth to his father denied his father the use of prince as his father was brought up in Lagos by his Lagosian mother. The use of ‘Ade’ in the names of his father and children are still intact. While clearing the air on the issue of his father being a chief in the same kingdom, he said that his father, Chief J. A. Akindiya (HOA) was given a chieftaincy title of Odofin Ilayan of Ikole-Ekiti to make him remember home and unite with Ekiti people. His father accepted and during his life time, he contributed enormously on Ondo and Ekiti State affairs in Council of Chiefs’ meetings, even before the creation of Ekiti as a State, the University, Colleges, developments that Ikole-Ekiti people were entitled to and other governmental amenities. Also, his father was Baa Akowe of his church which was also a chieftaincy title. He concluded that truly a prince ought not to be a chief, but it is denial of his right to the throne of a king. As a matter of right too, you can accept to be a chief, if you are not interested in kingship or it has not gotten to your ancestor’s turn.

To him, naming his son Joshua, a christian name was to substitute the use of the name ‘Babajide’ or ‘Babatunde’ as his son is on earth on his own purpose and everybody’s prayer is that their children should be greater than they are.

Why Oluwajomiloju? He smiled! He replied that God really surprised him on the way he met his mother,   wedding ceremony arrangement, circumstances of his son’s birth and other affairs of his life. This made him realised that only God is great and worthy of our reliance and trust.

We, at Sahara Weekly still congratulate Akindiya family on the naming ceremony of their son, Prince Adewale and grateful for his Dad’s support to our vision.

Alawuba reflected on the power of unity and collaboration, quoting Helen Keller: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” The commissioning of the renovated departure section serves as a reminder of what strategic partnerships can achieve in driving national development and elevating Nigeria’s global standing.”

While commissioning the project, Keyamo commended UBA for executing the project, a feat he termed a landmark achievement in Nigeria’s aviation sector. “This renovated departure section exemplifies the bank’s commitment to elevating aviation infrastructure, improving passenger experiences, and fostering international partnerships. It is a proud moment for the ministry and all stakeholders involved, and I thank the management of UBA for pioneering this initiative,” he remarked.

To provide succour to Nigerians, Dangote recently reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N970 to N899.50 at its Refinery loading gantry and provided generous credit terms to marketers.

“To ensure that this price reduction gets to the end consumer, we have signed a partnership with MRS to sell petrol from its retail outlets nationwide at N935 per litre” he added. This price has already commenced in Lagos, and it will be offered nationwide from Monday.

In his statement, he called on other oil marketers such as the NNPC Retail and all other marketers, “to work with us to ensure that Nigerians enjoy high-quality petrol at discounted prices.”

According to him, “The Dangote Refinery is for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians. We will therefore continue to work with various value chain players to deliver high quality petrol at cheaper prices. Our aim is for all Nigerians to have ready access to high quality petroleum products that are good for their vehicles, good for their health, and good for their pockets.

Recall that in September, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) under the leadership of Mr. President approved the sale of crude to local refineries in Naira and corresponding purchase of petroleum products in Naira. The move, which commenced on October 1, led to reduced pressure on the dollar and ensured the stability of the local currency.

Dangote thanked Nigerians for their unwavering support and the government for creating an enabling environment for the domestic refining industry.
