STAYING FIT WITH VICKY :  HOW TO GET RID OF FLABBY ARMS

Published

Hey, you know those flabby bits under your arms that wave in the wind every time you say goodbye? Those fleshy wings that convince you to purchase a matching sweater every time you buy a tank top or sleeveless dress? Well, those aren’t just the bane of your existence; they happen to many people, even the celebrities too. (Don’t get shocked, hold all horror and awe).

While some regular people aren’t being stalked on the beach by paparazzi looking for every little jiggle, many still want to be able to show off our arms with confidence. Not like “welcome to the gun show” or anything – but strong, defined arms that look amazing in spaghetti straps.

Let me burst some muscle myths and share with you the arms exercise you need to do to get in shape fast. Just do these arm exercises a few times a week and you’ll feel muscles you didn’t even know you had. But pay-off is worth the pain, you will get result. So ditch those stuffy sweater sets and get the “Michelle Obama Arms” of your dreams.

Before you start bursting your booty to get toned, sexy arms, let’s start by bursting some common myths.

MYTH: If I work out my arms, they will get too bulky.

This is the common excuse women make. Women are worried that if they pump iron, they will come out looking “bulky and unfeminine”. Not true. The female body is not made to bulk. Unless you’re genetically unique. You don’t have the testosterone for Rocky Balboa biceps.

MYTH: If I stop the training, my new muscles will turn to fat.

False.  If you stop the training, your body may get fat, but it won’t be because you ever had muscles.

To get your arms in the best shape, examine your body and set a realistic goal.

  1. For women with much arm jiggle, “you’re going to increase repetitions” and increase the amount of arm exercises you are doing in one work-out session. You’ll also need your cardio work to be intensive. But remember, heavier weights will not get you to your goal faster.
  2. For women with scrawny arms. “The push-up is king”. Make sure to be focusing on push-up exercises as they are a quick way to really build strength. Start with five push-ups a set and work your way up, taking as long as you want.

EXERCISES.

  1. Hand weights: choose one around eight pounds. No weight? No excuse. Grab two cans of beans or bottles of water and get to work.
  2. Stability Ball: if you’re 4 feet 11 inches to 5 feet 4 inches, choose a 45 centimetre ball. If you’re 5 feet 5inches to 5 feet 8 inches, choose a 55 centimetre ball. And if you’re 6 feet and taller, use a 65 centimetre ball.

I want you to forget you ever learned a push-up in high school gym class and re-learn this go-to move with my technique.

  • Do 15 to 20 repetitions each, 2 to 3 times minimum. If you want, start with modified push-ups (off your knees) and work your way up to full plank.

  1. Start out in front of a mirror so you can check your alignment. Your hands should be directly under your shoulder and lined up with your chest. Make sure your core is tight and your shoulders and neck are relaxed.
  2. Use your triceps to help execute the perfect push-up, so make sure you feel them engage when you are lowering and lifting back up. Your body from shoulder to foot should be tight (stiff) and your body straight and parallel to the floor.

To provide succour to Nigerians, Dangote recently reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N970 to N899.50 at its Refinery loading gantry and provided generous credit terms to marketers.

“To ensure that this price reduction gets to the end consumer, we have signed a partnership with MRS to sell petrol from its retail outlets nationwide at N935 per litre” he added. This price has already commenced in Lagos, and it will be offered nationwide from Monday.

In his statement, he called on other oil marketers such as the NNPC Retail and all other marketers, “to work with us to ensure that Nigerians enjoy high-quality petrol at discounted prices.”

According to him, “The Dangote Refinery is for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians. We will therefore continue to work with various value chain players to deliver high quality petrol at cheaper prices. Our aim is for all Nigerians to have ready access to high quality petroleum products that are good for their vehicles, good for their health, and good for their pockets.

Recall that in September, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) under the leadership of Mr. President approved the sale of crude to local refineries in Naira and corresponding purchase of petroleum products in Naira. The move, which commenced on October 1, led to reduced pressure on the dollar and ensured the stability of the local currency.

Dangote thanked Nigerians for their unwavering support and the government for creating an enabling environment for the domestic refining industry.

NNPC Debunks Shutdown Rumors, Confirms Port Harcourt Refinery Fully Operational

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has dismissed reports circulating in certain media outlets claiming that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago, has been shut down.

In a statement released by Olufemi O. Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, the company clarified that the refinery is fully operational. The statement noted that the facility’s operational status was recently verified by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC during a site inspection.

“Preparation for the day’s loading operation is currently ongoing,” the statement confirmed, emphasizing that allegations of the refinery’s shutdown are baseless and intended to create panic or artificial scarcity in the fuel market.

NNPC Ltd urged members of the public to disregard such misleading reports, labeling them as the work of those seeking to exploit Nigerians.

The Old Port Harcourt Refinery has been in operation since its re-streaming, and the company remains committed to ensuring stability in the supply of petroleum products across the country.
