*NIGER EAST AND THE QUEST FOR SENATOR MUSA’S CONTINUITY*

The people of Niger East Senatorial District have proverbially tasted the honey and its sweetness, and are most unwilling to let go of it. For so many who are used to sloganeering and emotive politics, the clamour for the continuity of Senator Sani Musa remains a surprise, but for those moved by tangible people-oriented programmes, it is not.

Indeed, it is no longer news that there is a serious quest for his return to the National Assembly. What is indeed news is the momentum and compelling clamour by the resilient constituents, who are unwilling to go back to the harrowing days of political false promises and sweet-talking.

Equally, the push for his continuity is associated with the several laudable projects and enduring people-focused programmes carried out by the radical leader and objective grassroots mobiliser. While over eighty-five percent of the constituents, cutting across all walks of life, have avowed their loyalty to him and are determined to ensure his return to continue his good works for humanity, even his traducers are agreed on the fact that his very rich and enduring legacies of developmental physical and social infrastructure, including several intentional advocacy initiatives, remain unbeatable, far-reaching, and valuable assets never before witnessed in the annals of the history of Niger East, and a sound testimony of the reasons he has to continue.

A purpose-driven advocate of social justice and governance inclusivity, Senator Sani remains an indomitable fulcrum and purpose initiator of people-based projects.

His sound and calculative strategic advocacy remains ageless, as it targets core areas of human existence, notably education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, and various stimulus programmes that remain exclusive, undeniable and capable of being tested empirically, with a periodic and intentionally targeted farmers’ support, coupled with a boost for small-scale businesses.

Senator Musa’s signature works all resonate with a man who has decided to uplift the living standard and general well-being of his people and the larger public. A highly focused and detribalised Nigerian, Senator Sani has indeed carved a niche for himself, demonstrating same in driving monumental and far-reaching developments all around his constituency, deliberately influencing policies, decisions, and programmes that underpin and holistically target his people, attracting immense benefits to the entire region.

FCT HIGH COURT ORDERS SUBSTITUTED SERVICE IN DEFAMATION SUIT AGAINST MAJOR GENERAL DANJUMA HAMISU ALI-KEFFI (RTD), ARISE NEWS AND SAHARA REPORTERS

The FCT High Court No. 2, Abuja, on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, granted an order for substituted service of all originating court processes on the defendants in the defamation suit filed by the former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, CFR, NAM (Zarumman Sokoto).

According to the court order, which was made available to us, the Court Bailiff is mandated to serve the defendants through publication of the processes in a national newspaper circulating within the FCT, as well as by pasting the documents at their last known addresses. The defendants include retired Major General Danjma Hamisu Ali-Keffi, (retired), ARISE News Broadcasting, and Sahara Reporters.

When contacted, lead counsel to General Yahaya, Mohammed Ndayako, SAN, confirmed the court order granted on 17 March 2026. He stated that the order became necessary due to the defendants’ repeated evasion of service by the Court Bailiff. In particular, he noted that Major General Danjuma Hamisu Ali-Keffi (retired) declined to acknowledge service at his post-retirement residence in Kurudu, Abuja, as recorded in his service records with the Nigerian Army.

He paid a courtesy visit to the Mogajis at the historic Mopo Hall, Oja’ba, Ibadan, where he said the meeting formed part of deliberate consultations with grassroots traditional authorities as he prepares for the 2027 governorship race.

“I am here today to formally inform you, our revered fathers, about my gubernatorial aspiration and to seek your blessings and support. Ibadanland occupies a central position in Oyo State politics and development, and no serious contender can ignore the importance of the Mogajis who represent the authentic voices of their various families,” Ajadi said.

Tracing his roots, Ajadi told the gathering that he hails from Osengere in Egbeda Local Government Area, stressing his deep connection with Ibadanland.

“I am from Osengere in Egbeda Local Government, and Chief Bode Amoo remains the ancestral head of our household. I have come to you as your son, with humility and respect, because I understand the role you play as custodians of our tradition and as community leaders,” he added.

Responding on behalf of the Mogajis, Alhaji Mogaji Asimiyu Ariyori Adepoju Olorisa, the Aare Mogaji of Ibadanland and leader of all Mogajis, emphasised the strategic importance of traditional family heads in the administration and stability of Ibadanland.

“We are the ones running the affairs of Ibadanland under the leadership of the Olubadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. Whoever pays due respect to the Mogajis has respected the entire Ibadanland,” he said.

He further noted that political aspirants seeking success in Ibadan must recognise the influence of the Mogajis.

“Anyone who wants to achieve his political aspiration in Ibadan must identify with the Mogajis. When Governor Seyi Makinde came to us, we told him he would emerge victorious, and he eventually did. We pray that your own aspiration will also be fulfilled,” he stated.

Adepoju, however, advised Ajadi to remain committed to his promises.

Other Mogajis who spoke at the meeting also offered prayers and words of encouragement to the aspirant.

Mogaji Muyideen Omitola prayed for divine guidance and success for Ajadi, saying, “May Almighty God grant your heart’s desire and make your aspiration a reality if it is good for the people of Oyo State.”

Mogaji Wasiu Salako, while praying for Ajadi’s success, also used the opportunity to highlight the need for more support for the Mogaji institution.

“The Mogaji forum also requires financial support for its activities and development. We pray that God grants your wish and also touches your heart to remember this institution,” he said.

Similarly, Mogaji Olasokun of the Alekuso area described Mogajis as vital links between the Olubadan and the grassroots.

“All Mogajis are representatives of their various households in Ibadanland. We serve as the link between the Olubadan and the compounds. Every Mogaji is a representative of the Olubadan in his family compound,” he explained.

He also spoke on the traditional hierarchy, noting that the Mogaji chieftaincy remains a foundational step within the Ibadan traditional system.

Also present at the gathering was Alhaja Rashidat Ogundipe, popularly known as Iya Atipako, who was invited to offer prayers for the governorship hopeful.

She prayed for Ajadi and members of his entourage, saying, “May Almighty God grant your gubernatorial ambition if it is destined to be, and may you and your supporters live long in good health to witness the dividends of your leadership.”

The visit formed part of Ajadi’s ongoing consultations with key stakeholders, traditional leaders and political interest groups across Oyo State as political permutations ahead of the 2027 governorship election gradually gather momentum.

Political observers say such engagements underscore the enduring influence of Ibadan’s traditional institutions in shaping political outcomes in the state, especially given the city’s demographic and political dominance within Oyo State.
