Ekiti 2018: Stepping Down Game Begins as Kayode Ojo, MOB Team Negotiates.

As the drumbeat of who clinches the ticket of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC in the Ekiti State governorship primary election slated for May 5, 2018 gathers audible volume, there are indications that two of the 33 aspirants, Kayode Ojo and Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, may be considering bowing out of the race.

The two aspirants, according to our sources, are said to be currently miffed by a sudden twist in the support they purportedly enjoy from one of the APC leader in the state.

Impeccable sources informed that Kayode Ojo is shell shocked by the decision of his political benefactor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo to travel out of the country few days to the primaries.

Ojo was troubled by the possible vacuum his camp would suffer following the decision of the party leaders in the last meeting held with the aspirants in Lagos where the leaders decided to be on ground to monitor the primaries to ensure a hitch free poll.

The sudden unfavourable disposition of Otunba Adebay to the duo of Ojo and Dr Kayode Fayemi, also an aspirant, after the Lagos meeting was said to be troubling.

Adebayo, a former governor of the state was said to have lost zeal in the Ekiti state race after the meeting of twenty seven Aspirants in the home of National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It was gathered that Ojo, as a result his desperation for attention,  have since been calling other aspirants frantically seeking whom to align with after seemingly wasting precious resources in the run-up.

He is said to be also considering to step down for Fayemi if all fails even as JFK is said to be floundering on the field.

At a meeting with his followers yesterday, Kayode Ojo informed the some of his close associates, among whom are Dele Owoju and Hon. Sikira, that he may bow out of the race.

The declaration drew the ire of Owoju and Sikira who are sworn political enemies of  Fayemi whom they felt Ojo might be considering to step down for, if allowed to carry out his intention.

Also, in similar vein, the former House of Representatives member, Hon. Bamidele who is now under tremendous pressure from the camp of a former  Governor  to step down to create the impression that the ex-governor who has been totally absent on the field is a front runner.

MOB who is said to be so broke as a result of business dealings gone sour and is now negotiating to sell some of his assets, is said to be considering the offer that his form fee be refunded and is desperately seeking new benefactors as he runs out of resources.

When our Reporters were in his home in Iyin Ekiti on Sunday evening, it was a ghost land as scarcely any activity was seen there in pitch dark just six days to a major election.

Same is true for several candidates despite the active social media and the lies coming from their rumour mill.

Only front runners who are on ground like Muyiwa Olumilua, FAPEE and a few others like a former Senator, seem to be attracting an increasing number of delegates to their camp in the dying minutes of the contest.

Further to this ugly trend, confirmed inquiries by a businessman in Ado Ekiti indicate that Yinka Akerele another one of the many marginal candidates on the political field has put up his tent rental business for sale. This business is the only source of Yinka Akerele’s meagre resources to prosecute a floundering campaign and nails his political coffin in Ekiti.
