Eko Disco sympatises with family of electrocution victim

The Management and staff of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) on Saturday sympathised with the family of an electrocution victim and appeals to the public on the need to observed the stipulated distance from power lines.

The EKEDC’s General Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr Godwin Idemudia said in a statement that entire staff of the company expressed  its deepest condolences to the family of late Mrs Fausat Amole who was informed that was involved in an alleged electrocution incident occurring at the Shofolahan area of Ijeshatedo, Surulere, Lagos State Jan. 20.

Idemudia said EKEDC’s management and staff were saddened at this tragic happening and confirm that the Company’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) department as well as the regulatory authorities are currently investigating this incident to determine the actual cause of the accident that led to the victim’s death.

According to him, the management of EKEDC has initiated communication with and is engaging, the family of late Amole in light of the tragic occurrence. We urge that the family be accorded the privacy required at this difficult time.

“We hereby urge the public to desist from engaging in activities such as operating construction sites or commercial ventures, petty trading, or other outdoor activities close to electricity installations such as High Tension/Low Tension Power lines, Rings Main Unit (RMU), Transformers to minimize the likelihood of similar occurrences.

“Safety is EKEDC’s utmost priority and we urge our esteemed customers to be their brother’s keepers by reporting instances of premises and activities located dangerously close to electricity installations,’’ the stamen said.

The EKEDC’s spokesman urged members of the public to utilise any of our reporting platforms to channel reports of any potentially hazardous situation via our social media platforms, 24/7 customer care line, emails and formal letters.
