Enugu APC demands Immediate sack of chairman

All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Enugu State have demanded the immediate sack of its chairman, Mr Ugochukwu Agballah.

Spokesperson of the group, Chief Nweke Gbazuagu, in a petition to the Abdullahi Adamu-led national working committee (NWC), justified the demand, saying it was aimed at repositioning the party ahead of the 2023 polls.

The group comprising the former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, urged the NWC to immediately save the party in Enugu from collapse by removing Agballah from office, and in his place, putting a caretaker chairman, who should be someone not within the current State Executive Committee.

The group contended that the party still stands a chance of remedying the situation and being competitive in the general elections if their demand is me

The group noted: “The party is imploding and on the brink of collapse. It is in no position, as things stand, to be competitive in the general elections. “The leaders now believe that a radical solution is required to save the state chapter of APC from total collapse and disgrace.”

Meanwhile, Abdullah described the stakeholders as Abuja-based politicians, who are of little or no value to the prospects of the party in Enugu.

Hear him: “First, from the day convention ended, Chief Uche Nnaji, APC governorship candidate for Enugu, and I, have been on a tour of the 260 wards in the state.

“We have not wasted one day. Below are footages of the ward tour and the number of wards we have covered.

“Before Nnaji’s nomination, nobody has ever given a dime to any ward. None of these eminent personalities has contributed one dime to the party at the state, local ward, zonal or national level.

“None of them have been seen in their wards. Nnaji has been sponsoring ward, local council and state meetings since he indicated interest to run as governorship candidate.”

“The truth is that we, the state executive members, asked all leaders and stakeholders to relocate from Abuja and go strengthen their wards. None of them accepted.

“They want me to be holding meetings with them in Abuja; unfortunately, I have relocated to wards and have visited almost 180 wards as of today. As of this minute am sending my report from Olo ward in Ezeagu Local Council.
