Suspected herdsmen kill APC Chief and son in Plateau

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sahara Weekly Reports That Armed men, believed to be nomads, killed the All Progressive Congress (APC) Secretary John Mai Kyaw and his son in Mangu City, Plateau State.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The politician was killed on Wednesday 10 May 2023 at his residence in Bure village in Halle district.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

His wife and another son, who was shot in his abdomen and leg, escaped with only gunshot wounds and are being treated at Allaa na Nakova Hospital in Mang City.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Community leader Dan Mang, the uncle of the victim, announced the incident to the public on Friday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The attack occurred around 8:00 am.
It’s 00 o’clock in Bure village,” he said. “There were more than 60 shepherds in the Mang Hale district of Bure village.

He said gunmen broke into the house and opened fire in the living room, killing him and his son.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It was noted that security forces were dispatched to the community to restore peace.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pastor John and his son were buried Thursday afternoon amid tensions in the village.
