“I’ll Sign Their Condolence Letters First” – Wike Fires Back at Critics Wishing Him Dead

“I’ll Sign Their Condolence Letters First” – Wike Fires Back at Critics Wishing Him Dead

Abuja, Nigeria – Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has delivered a fiery response to his critics, declaring that he would personally sign the condolence letters of those who wish him dead.

Wike, who dismissed recent social media rumors that he collapsed last week, made the bold statement on Thursday while inspecting ongoing projects in the capital, including the International Conference Centre (ICC).

The former Rivers State governor, known for his combative political style, accused detractors of fabricating the reports in a bid to score cheap political points.

“Everybody will die one day; nobody will remain forever, but it is only God that can tell you when you will die, not human beings,” Wike said.

Then, in a move characteristic of his sharp wit, he added: “Some of them who said I will die, I can assure you that I will write their condolence letter.”

“Political Propaganda Gone Wild”

The minister’s remarks come amid a wave of online speculation about his health, with some reports suggesting he had suffered a medical emergency. However, Wike dismissed the claims as baseless, attributing them to political mischief-makers determined to spread falsehoods.

“People just sit down and cook up stories. They said I collapsed; where? How?” he quipped.

Wike has remained one of the most outspoken figures in Nigerian politics, often clashing with opponents both within and outside his party. His tenure as FCT minister has been marked by rapid urban development initiatives, but also political tensions, particularly in his home state of Rivers.

Unfazed and Focused on Development

Despite the controversy, Wike assured Nigerians that he remains focused on his mandate to transform the capital. He vowed that his critics’ wishes would not distract him from delivering on infrastructural projects aimed at improving Abuja’s landscape.

“We are here working, delivering projects, and yet some people are busy spreading fake news. Let them continue; we will continue working,” he said.

With his latest remarks, Wike has once again demonstrated his resilience in the face of political opposition, turning the narrative back on his critics. Whether or not they take him seriously, one thing is clear: he has no intention of slowing down.
