The campaign against dubious producers and productions houses in Lagos has received a major boost as the Lagos State Police Commissioner Edgal Imohimi has thrown his weight behind the campaign. The super cop gave this assurance at the congress of the Lagos State Chapter of the Guild were he spoke on the *IMPERATIVES OF POLICE NOLLYWOOD PARTNERSHIP.*
The police commissioner who was represented by the State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti said that Nollywood as Nigeria’s biggest brand Export to the world needs the backing of the police to get rid of bad eggs that are trying to paint the movie industry in bad light. “The Lagos Police Command is very concerned and worried about criminal elements who are masquerading as Actors and producers in the state and are either extorting or duping innocent citizens.
The Lagos Police Command shall partner with you and give you all the necessary support to curb this dangerous trend. There are relevant association for doctors and lawyers. Nollywood should not be an exception. Actors, producers, directors and others should belong to relevant bodies in Nollywood for easy Indetification. henceforth, if you have any information and locations of these elements, let us know and we shall give you full protection to do your Taskforce to do their Job effectively, The CP said
The police commissioner also recommended the use of original police uniforms in movies to give good image and proper representation of the Police. “We watch your movies and sometimes you do not portray the good image of the police. We have our style and discipline and you can only get it right if you do proper research or consult us. If you need training on how the police operates, we will be willing to offer training to your Actors and provide state of the art props to make your movies better as that was how Hollywood was sold to the world.” The Lagos Police Commissioner assured.

In His remarks, AGN BOT Chairman, Prince Ifeanyi Dike thanked the Lagos Commissioner of Police Edgal Imohimi for effectively providing safety to Lagosians. “We are happy with your performance in Lagos State. High point of the event came when the Chairman, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter Don Pedro Aganbi presented the AGN COMMENDATION AWARD to the Commissioner in recognition of his excellent service in the police force and commitment to the fight against Crime. “CP Edgal Imohimi you are an Acknowledged champion of community policing in the Nigerian Security space. Your Courage, determination and commitment to make Lagos State a safe haven has earned you lots of accolades. You are etching your name on the marble of time for the good of society” Aganbi noted.
