NAPS CONDEMNED THE ATTITUDE OF DG NYSC AGAINST NIGERIAN POLYTECHNIC STUDENTS
National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) Expresses Displeasure Over NYSC Pronouncement
The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), the umbrella body representing all polytechnic, monotechnic, and allied institutions awarding National Diplomas (ND) and Higher National Diplomas (HND) across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, wishes to express its deep displeasure regarding a recent pronouncement by the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The pronouncement, which denies students who have completed the Science and Laboratory Technology (SLT) program from participating in the NYSC scheme, is both troubling and unacceptable. It is imperative to highlight that these students have undergone rigorous accreditation processes at their respective institutions, and their records have been duly uploaded to the NYSC portal, NBTE is the regulatory body for all Polytechnic in Nigeria not the Professional bodies, NYSC made gross mistake on this .
NAPS calls on the NYSC to reconsider this decision and recognize the validity of the SLT program and its graduates. Denying them the opportunity to serve the nation through the NYSC scheme undermines the credibility of the accreditation process and the educational integrity of polytechnic institutions.
We urge the NYSC to take immediate action to rectify this situation and ensure that all eligible graduates are afforded the opportunity to participate in the national service.
Yours in Struggle
