Sky down: Tens of thousands of users report problems with their internet
Sky is down as more than 13,000 users report problems with their internet.
Service users have taken to Down Detector in their droves from across the UK this evening. With reports beginning at around 10 p.m. Sky offers satellite television service as well as broadband internet and home phone service.
In the comments section, Ron Bell said: “Internet speeds up and down in Newcastle upon Tyne, NE15 area code. Ridiculous for what I am paying. Sort your s*** service out Sky.” Shirli Alexander added: “It’s Monday and how do I know because SKY is down in the SE18 4H* area. If you buy Sky, know that it doesn’t work on weekends.”
The Sky Help Team on X (formerly Twitter) asked if users were having issues with their connection and were met with a barrage of comments complaining about the service. Thomas Wellock said: “I have trouble with everything of yours – signal is always shocking, Wi-Fi down for the 5th time this year, was conned into buying Sky glass which is the absolute worst TV/service out there.Always glitches, cuts out and crap screen quality is nowhere near as good as competitors.”
Second person said: “Mine’s out again, this is getting ridiculous now how often it just stops working ergh.” Another added: “My connection’s out. Thought it was just me, reset my router. Nope, still not working. Can’t even access the Sky app. Not happy.”
On the Sky Help Team’s Facebook page, it said yesterday morning – referring to Lancashire: “There is currently a Multiple Exchange Outage in the above area affecting Broadband, Talk and Fibre customers. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.” Later, it added: “Support teams have confirmed that all Broadband, Talk and Fibre services have been restored in the above area. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
Meanwhile, the UK-based broadcaster Sky has called on the British government to tackle regulatory red tape that threatens to stifle the creative sector ahead of government plans to launch a review of TV trends.
