The Silent Suffering & Struggles Of APC Foot Soldiers In Lagos (Opinion)

The Silent Suffering & Struggles Of APC Foot Soldiers In Lagos (Opinion)

In the heart of Lagos State, a state known for its political dynamism and unwavering support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), a disquieting pattern has emerged. It echoes the concerns of many grassroots supporters who feel they are being marginalized, their voices muffled, and their aspirations crushed by the powers that be. We, as a concerned political group, can not remain silent any longer. It is our duty to shed light on the issue that has been festering in the shadows—the dominance of greedy leaders, including the cartel of the Governor Advisory Council and the perpetuation of nepotism within the ranks of the party.

As staunch supporters of the APC, we have remained dedicated foot soldiers in the political battlegrounds, tirelessly working to ensure the party’s success at the polls. Yet, there is an unsettling trend that has left many of us disheartened. It appears that the GAC cartel, comprised of influential individuals with close ties to the leadership of the party, has been instrumental in advancing their own interests, often at the expense of dedicated party members.

One of the most glaring concerns is the practice of installing their children, friends and family members into positions of power, further deepening the divide between the party’s grassroots supporters and those with connections to the council. This practice not only raises questions of fairness and meritocracy but also threatens to alienate the very people who are the backbone of the APC.

The Governor Advisory Council, while serving as a valuable advisory body, should not be a vehicle for perpetuating nepotism and cronyism. It is essential that the council reassess its role and responsibilities to ensure a level playing field for all party members. We implore the leadership to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of grassroots supporters who have played a crucial role in the APC’s successes.

The consequence of this lopsided approach could be detrimental for the APC, particularly as we look ahead to the 2027 elections. It is not too early to consider the potential ramifications of sidelining support groups and those who have tirelessly championed the party’s cause.

We acknowledge the need for unity within the party and understand the concerns about opposition forces eager to exploit any perceived weaknesses. However, we firmly believe that true unity can only be achieved by addressing the concerns of party members who feel left behind.

In closing, we are not afraid to voice our concerns and shed light on the issues that affect our beloved party. We do this not out of defiance but out of a deep commitment to the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and justice. It is our hope that our party leadership will heed our call and work towards a more equitable and prosperous future for all APC members in Lagos State.

We may have hidden our names for fear of becoming a laughing stock, but we stand united in our resolve to ensure that the house we helped build remains strong and fair for all. Support groups across Lagos State cry out for justice, inclusivity, and a brighter future for the APC.
